NWAC 75-Year Celebration - John Dunn, Highline College
VANCOUVER, Wash. – The NWAC is celebrating its 75th year in existence this year after it originated in 1946 as the Washington State Junior College Athletic Conference (WSJCAC). The 75-year celebration features a unique logo and highlights some of the most influential figures in the conference over its history.
The 14th influential figure to be recognized is John Dunn, current Highline College athletic director. Dunn answered some questions about working at Highline and with the NWAC, which can be read below.

Highline College
How long have you been involved with the NWAC?
31 Years.
What official titles have you held at your current institution or past institutions in the NWAC?
Director of Athletics, Assistant Athletic Director, Head Men's Basketball Coach, Assistant Men's Basketball Coach, Men's Athletics Commissioner.
What has kept you in the NWAC over the year?
It was the purest form of college sports for many years. Having coached at the Division I level, community college was the perfect balance of academics and athletics.
What has been your greatest reward working in community college athletics?
The relationships with my staff and their families, and the relationships with the student-athletes.
When you are done with CC athletics, how would you like to be remembered?
I would like people to remember my staff and their teams, any memory of me is never something I have wanted.
Who would you like to thank or honor for supporting you during your time in the NWAC?
My entire athletic staff at Highline College. A great group of people who care about all the right things and whose values and hard work have shaped thousands of young women and men in my years getting to work with them at Highline.
