Job Announcement: Assistant Director of Athletics & Recreation, Green River
Green River College is currently accepting applications for its Assistant Director of Athletics and Recreation position.
The Athletics & Recreation Manager oversees the daily operations of the Green River College's student recreation center and athletics program by providing supervision, leadership, and direct oversight over department operations. This position performs a variety of highly complex professional and administrative functions related to student health and wellness and athletic activities. The Program Manager ensures the recreation and athletic center, RAC, provides inclusive programming for open recreation, wellness, and intramural activities. This position supervises RAC front desk attendants and group fitness staff. The Program Manager performs administrative tasks and game day operations in the GRC Athletics program. Administrative tasks include team roster management, eligibility, academic initiatives, website development, student athlete support, etc. This position manages athletic game management staff for GRC home games.
Position Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, manage, and assess recreational offerings to housing residents, international students, and other student groups.
- Develop a cohesive customer service approach that provides open access and features cross-cultural communication.
- Recruit, train, and supervise part time group fitness instructor staff.
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise work grant and work-study student employees to assist in the daily operations of the RAC.
- Oversee and prepare the 522 RAC budgets. Participate in the development of the annual 522 budget per ASGRC financial code policies.
- Lead purchasing for the RAC department. Evaluate and recommend larger equipment purchases for the RAC's fitness center.
- Serve as the lead contact person for ongoing maintenance needs. Work with fitness company (Precor) for preventative maintenance needs.
- Schedule and organize RAC programs such as intramural tournaments, group fitness, and other RAC specialty events.
- Manage and promote Staff & Faculty memberships for the RAC.
- Maintain a positive relationship with GRC Facilities department to ensure sanitary conditions of the RAC facility, equipment, and locker rooms.
- Develop and prepare reports to track user visitation and programming participation.
- Perform game day operations for GRC home games such as game set up/take down, ticketing, scoreboard operations, live statistics, live-streaming, video upload, etc.
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise athletic game management student employee staff.
- Coordinate officials and athletic trainers for home athletic contests.
- Oversee hiring paperwork processes for head coaches, assistant coaches, student employees and game day staff.
- Track and manage coaches' hours and compensation each pay period.
- Perform administrative tasks in GRC Athletics program such as team roster management, eligibility, website updates, student athlete support, etc.
- Serve on pertinent campus committees.
- Assist in athletic department special events and fundraisers.
- Create, maintain and inventory recreation, athletics and athletic training supplies and equipment.
- Assist with varying social media platforms providing promotion of the athletic department, photography, information and community outreach in partnership with the College Relations department.
- Lead athletic department academic initiatives such as study hall, grade checks, and one-on-one check-ins.
- Responsible for student-athlete intake. Work with coaches and athletes to onboard new student-athletes to GRC.
- Supervise sport programs as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Recreation.
- Monitor gender equity for assigned areas and advise the administrative team regarding deficiencies and remedies.
- Collaborate with the Director of Recreation & Athletics in the development and growth of departmental policies, procedures, and strategic planning.
- Oversee the Letter of Intent (LOI) process and tracers.
- Assist in the tracking and administering of student-athlete athletic aid.
- Assume other duties falling within the scope of this position, as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Recreation.
