Job Announcement: Director of Athletics, Fitness & Recreation Programs, Rogue

This position is responsible for the overall planning, direction, organization and operation of athletics, fitness and recreation programs in including Health, Physical Education, Outdoor Adventure Leadership and Massage Therapy Programs. It provides leadership in the development, expansion, revision, improvement, and maintenance of both Athletic and Academic Programs, including supervision of coaches, faculty, classified, and student workers. Represents the college in the community to negotiate, establish, and maintain effective working relationships and contracts with regional, state and local agencies. Provides leadership for the fiscal planning and budget administration to accomplish goals within established budget processes for the programs within the department; and responsibility for working with the RCC foundation to lead fundraising efforts for programs. Complies with all federal (Title IX), state, college and NWAC regulations, policies and codes.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Athletics Oversight and Administration

Hires, evaluates performance, trains, disciplines, and recommends dismissal in accordance with established procedures and bargaining agreements.
Evaluates and oversees professional development plans and goals in support of the College's mission and in accordance with good management practices, policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
Responsible for managing liability issues and providing a safe inclusive environment for athletes and staff.
Overseeing facility readiness, athlete medical support like athletic trainers and plans and guidelines for student-athlete travel.
Develop budgets, lead, plan, coordinate and implement all fundraising efforts.
Ensure coaches are certified in sport, concussion management and other required trainings and appropriate licensures.
Game management and staffing, Enterprise coordination, variety of hotels across the Northwest, PEX cards, per diems, facilities, equipment, officials, lines, and judges.

2. Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Massage Therapy Programs

Program coordination- course scheduling, faculty assignment, curriculum development, instruction and program assessment and evaluation
Advise and recruit students in program.
Budget preparation and equipment/facilities oversight.
Serve as a member of college-wide standing committees, search committees, and other related activities; represent the program and the college to the community, business, public agencies and other organizations professionally.
Chair search committees which recommend departmental hiring and recommend to the dean the appointment of full and part-time faculty in the department.
Maintain appropriate standards of excellence in the review of departmental course offerings, staff performance and curricular design.
Oversees the development and implementation of program curricula within the department and assures that departmental digital and print publications, such as syllabi, course outlines, graduation guides and web pages are on file and current.
Coordinate all major programmatic activities, including course schedules, student advising, and instructional delivery systems.
Develop and implement appropriate departmental policies and procedures.
Responsible for the acquisition, use and maintenance, inventory and security of departmental equipment.

3. Other Duties as Assigned

May participate in College committees as assigned.
