Kiley Jones, Softball Hitter - Umpqua
Freshman • First Base
Columbia HS • Nampa, ID
Kiley Jones is honorarily selected the NWAC Hitter of the Week after tragically losing her life in a vehicular accident while traveling home on the team bus. Head coach Jami Strinz also lost her life and many other members of the team were injured.
In her final games playing against Grays Harbor, Jones helped lead the Riverhawks to a pair of wins 8-6 and 8-7. She was tied for the team lead in runs batted in for the UCC softball team with 19, to go along with a team-high eight doubles as the team's starting first baseman. Jones was a two-sport athlete with a heart for her teammates and a contagious smile. She was a leader who brought energy to both the softball and soccer fields. Kiley was the light that shined anywhere she went. The NWAC, Umpqua Community College and the entire softball community mourn the loss of Kiley and Coach Strinz.
