Jones, Wilson Earn NWAC Men's Basketball Postseason Awards

VANCOUVER, Wash. – The 2022 NWAC Men's Basketball Postseason awards including Baden Player of the Year and Coach of the Year, have been announced by the conference office. Isaac Jones of Wenatchee Valley has been named the Baden Men's Basketball Player of the Year and London Wilson of Yakima Valley is the Men's Coach of the Year.

Jones had one of the most dominant seasons in NWAC Men's Basketball history as he led the conference in numerous statistical categories including points per game (25.3), rebounds per game (13.2) and field goal percentage (69.5%). Jones' play on the court helped lead Wenatchee Valley to the East Region title and a spot in the NWAC Final Four. The Knights had the best regional record of 15-1 and were the No. 1 scoring offense averaging 93.1 points per game, led by Jones.

Jones also paced the conference in a number of other categories including total points, total offensive and defensive rebounds, total field goal attempts and games played. He also finished second in total blocks with 54. The sophomore was a model of consistency for the Knights, scoring at least 10 points in every game while reaching at least 20 points in 23 contests. He had a Wenatchee Valley record of 61 points on Jan. 19 against Walla Walla. Averaging well over a double-double, he recorded double-digit rebounds in all but five games.

London Wilson, Yakima Valley, Men's Basketball Coach of the Year

In an incredible finish to the year, Wilson led the Yakima Valley Yaks to the NWAC Championships after entering the tournament as a No. 3-seed. The Yaks ended the season on a six-game winning streak, starting the streak with a win over East Region champions Wenatchee Valley 80-65 on March 2. This win started the team's run to the title, taking down Green River, Lane, Olympic and finally Bellevue in the finals.

Wilson's squad went 21-9 overall and 9-7 in a tough East Region. The Yaks beat all four region champions at one point during the season. They overcame a four-game losing streak in February to then win eight of their last nine games with their lone loss coming in overtime.

Overall, the Yaks finished seventh in points per game with 84.6. They were highly efficient shooting on the year, ranking second in field goal percentage (51.6%) and were sixth in three-point percentage (37.1%).
