Rogue’s Sarraude, Highline’s Udovich Named NWAC Baden Players of the Year

VANCOUVER, Wash. – Rogue Community College men's soccer player Jhoel Sarraude and Highline College women's soccer player Meredith Udovich were named the 2021 NWAC Baden Players of the Year on Tuesday.

Sarraude was one of the most dominant offensive players in the NWAC this year, ranking second overall with 20 goals and 45 points. Sarraude had also had four game-winning goals, 58 shots and 40 shots on goal. He was 3-for-3 on penalty kicks on the season.

Sarraude had four games with a hat trick, including two games with four goals, both against Bellevue with one in the opening round of the NWAC playoffs. He had two assists in Rogue's 2-1 upset win over Peninsula and helped lead the Ospreys to their first NWAC Final Four appearance, finishing with a 10-3-2 overall record.

Udovich was the conference's best player at setting up her teammates, leading the NWAC by a considerable margin in assists with 18. Anytime Udovich had possession of the ball, there was an opportunity for the Thunderbirds to score thanks to her playmaking ability.

Udovich was also no stranger to finding the back of the net herself, scoring eight goals which was tied for fifth in the NWAC and led Highline. She finished third overall in the conference with 34 points. She had four game-winning goals, 55 shots and 26 shots on goal. The freshman helped lead the Thunderbirds to the NWAC Final Four with a 12-3-1 overall record while winning the West Region title.
