Miconi's Brace Lifts Spokane 3-0 over Tacoma to Reach NWAC Final

TUKWILA, Wash. — Spokane scored three late goals to top Tacoma 3-0 in the final semifinal game of the 2025 NWAC Women's Soccer Championship on Friday night at Starfire Stadium.

After a defensive battle through 70 minutes, Spokane's Mia Miconi scored the first goal with a rocket shot that ended the scoreless tie in the 72nd minute. She quickly extended Spokane's lead with another goal in the 76th minute. Cora Murray then sealed the game with a goal in the 83rd minute, assisted by Addie Reidt, capping the Sasquatch's run of three goals in just over 10 minutes. Spokane's defense, led by goalkeeper Danika Curtis, successfully thwarted several attempts from Tacoma the rest of the way to maintain the shutout and the victory.

The game started with both teams on the defensive as neither was able to find the back of the net in the opening half. The two teams had just seven total shots in the first half with Tacoma leading 5-2. Spokane's Ana Thompson delivered three corner kicks, one early at 2:32 and others at 23:10 and 33:50, but the team could not capitalize on these opportunities. Tacoma's offensive efforts included shots by Kali Ginnis and Aleigha Woodland, both missing the target, and a saved attempt by Amelia Recardo at 40:34. The half concluded scoreless, with both teams evenly matched in their defensive and offensive plays.

Tacoma controlled the play early in the second half, and had a few close opportunities to score the first goal, but were turned away by the Spokane defense and Curtis, who made four total saves earning the shutout.

Laura Corr led Tacoma with three shots, one of which was on goal. Rojas-Perez matched Corr's shot total, also managing to put one on target. Stochel played the full 90 minutes in net, making two saves.

Spokane will head back to the championship game for the third time in four years. The Sasquatch won the title in 2022 and fell to Columbia Basin in the finals in 2023. They will take on Highline in the final on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. Tacoma completes a great season with a 16-2-3 overall record and the West Region title.
