Job Announcement: Head Volleyball Coach/Running Start Navigator, Centralia
Centralia College is currently accepting applications for it head volleyball coach/running start navigator position.
Under general supervision of the Dean of Student Success and Retention and the Director of Athletics, this position will assist students by providing educational navigation and resource assistance and promoting student retention through support services, new student orientations, and ongoing collaboration with faculty and staff. Additionally, this position will ensure compliance with all rules and regulations of the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) in areas including, but not limited to; recruiting, letters of intent, eligibility, scheduling and travel, and preparing student-athletes for competition. A flexible working schedule is required as both portions of the position will require evening and weekend work, as well as travel.
Duties and Responsibilities
Running Start Navigator – 75%
- Support new/prospective students; clarify high school graduation equivalencies, interpret assessment scores; articulate college policies and procedures.
- Serve as a resource and advocate for students, parents and families and assist students in becoming self-directed in the educational planning process.
- Maintain accurate student files on each enrolled student.
- Work with counselors and other faculty and staff as needed to assure appropriate and effective learning support and resources.
- Participate in outreach activities at local high schools and college fairs, with a particular emphasis on supporting diverse student populations.
- Serve as a liaison with school districts, high school counselors and registrars regarding policies and procedures, course equivalencies, academic standing and student success issues.
- Serve as a role model and mentor for students in the Running Start Program.
- Participate as a team member in the implementation of services and activities to support the success of Running Start students.
- Assist (Advising/Counseling and Institutional Research) with statistical information and data collection, including monthly enrollment reports.
- Represents the Running Start Program on college and statewide committees.
- Participate in professional development activities as appropriate.
Women's Volleyball Coach – 25%
- Conduct the Women's Volleyball program in accordance with the established rules and regulations of Centralia College and the NWAC.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of all eligibility rules and assist the athletic department staff with assuring that all student-athletes are aware of the rules, and that all appropriate information regarding eligibility is shared with the Director of Athletics.
- Recruit quality student-athletes in accordance with the rules and regulations of the college and the NWAC.
- Promote a positive environment for learning and development that supports the goals and objectives of the department's Academic Success Program, and assists student athletes with achieving their academic goals.
- Make recommendations to the Director of Athletics for assistant coaching assignments and establish individual responsibilities of her/his coaching staff.
- Assist with the development of a competitive contest schedule, and a comprehensive practice plan.
- Assist game management personnel with all preparations for event support at all home contests.
- Assist with the planning for all team travel in conjunction with athletic department staff, to include the safe transport of team members to all away contests.
- Make recommendations to the Director of Athletics regarding the awarding of letters of intent and financial awards.
- Provide comprehensive instruction regarding individual skill development and team strategies specific to the sport of Volleyball. Make recommendations for the purchase of uniforms and equipment, following the college's purchasing procedures. Maintain inventory for all team equipment.
- Assist with the development and implementation of an annual fundraising plan to support Women's volleyball and the athletic department.
- Ensure timely submission of all reports, contest results, and statistical information.
- Attend all required department meetings, and all associated NWAC coaches' meetings.
- Ensure rosters are full prior to the season and maintained during the season.
- Other duties as assigned.
