Yakima Valley Takes 3rd Place for 2nd Year in a Row with Sweep of CBC

LAKEWOOD, Wash. - The Yakima Valley Yaks volleyball team secured its second-straight place finish, sweeping Columbia Basin in the 3rd Place Match on Sunday afternoon at the 2024 NWAC Volleyball Championship, hosted by Pierce College.

The Yaks had a strong hitting performance as they hit .244 for the match while limiting the Hawks to .058. McKenna Steiner finishes her Yakima Valley career with 13 kills and 12 digs. Kaitlyn Leaverton, a freshman, had 10 kills and 13 digs while sophomore Ana Hrle finished with eight kills and a team best three block assists.

Joleen Jaeger had 24 assists and Kalilyn Gomez recorded 20. Mia Carlson paced the team with 17 digs.

On the other side, Zuri Reeser had 11 kills while Kaylie Christopher finished with eight. Madison Brisco had 16 digs. The Hawks take fourth place overall, their second top-four finish in the last three years.
