Edmonds Takes 3rd Place Overall with Sweep of Rogue
PASCO, Wash. — Edmonds secured its best team finish since 2018, sweeping Rogue in the Third Place Match of the 2025 NWAC Volleyball Championship on Sunday at Columbia Basin College.
The Tritons match their third place finish from 2018 as the complete an outstanding year with a 36-2 overall record. Rogue takes fourth place overall, the best finish in the Ospreys program history.
The first set began with Edmonds taking an early lead, capitalizing on a series of errors by Rogue. Key contributions came from Olivia Miller and Haley Yost, each securing kills with assists from Abby Barrow and Keikilani Iwaki. RCC attempted a comeback with kills from Danica Becerril and service aces by Perseis Rosas-Sueinishi, leveling the score at 20-20. However, the Tritons regained control with decisive plays from Yost and Miller. The set concluded at 25-23 in favor of Edmonds, with the final point sealed by a service ace from Iwaki.
The Tritons emerged victorious in the second set against Rogue, securing a 25-22 win. Kamaleimahie Auwae sparked an early surge for Edmonds with a service ace and benefited from a series of attack errors by RCC, building an initial 4-2 lead. The Ospreys responded, tying the score at 6-6 with kills from Olivia Stubenrauch and Becerril. Edmonds regained momentum with a decisive finish from Jayda-Lee Kaeo, who closed the set with a kill from Auwae's assist, halting the Ospreys' late rally attempt.
Edmonds secured a 25-22 victory in the third set against Rogue, gaining momentum early with Yost's initial two kills, assisted by Abby Barrow. RCC responded with a brief lead, but service errors and attack mistakes hindered their progress. The Tritons capitalized on these opportunities, with Meredith Moszeter contributing crucial points, including the set-winning kill. The Ospreys' Atalani Cook and Piper O'Farrell attempted to narrow the gap with their kills, but strong defensive plays by Edmonds, including blocks by Olivia Miller and Lizzie Takau, maintained their lead.
Meredith Moszeter led Edmonds with an impressive .556 attack percentage, accumulating 10 kills without committing an error in 18 attacks. Alondra Zambrano was a defensive standout, recording 23 digs, the most on the squad. Miller excelled at the net with five block assists, leading the team in total blocks. Yost provided a balanced effort with nine kills, nine digs, and one service ace, contributing significantly to the team's overall points. Kaeo demonstrated impressive efficiency with a .500 attack percentage, notching four kills on eight attempts.
Shayla Lacamiento led Rogue with 33 assists in the three sets. Stubenrauch led the team in points, accumulating 13.5 through a combination of 12 kills and one service ace, while also adding seven digs to her defensive efforts. Rosas-Sueinishi made significant contributions on defense with 21 digs, providing stability in the backcourt. Meanwhile, Becerril was a strong presence at the net, tallying 10 kills and contributing to the team's blocking efforts with two block assists.
